Astros Minor League Recap: June 18th, 2021
Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.
AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (23-14) won 10-3 (BOX SCORE)
The Skeeters started out hot scoring 4 runs in the first on a Meyers solo HR and Matijevic 3 run HR. Meyers came back up in the second inning and connected on a 2 run shot for his 2nd homer of the game. In the 4th they picked up 3 more runs on a wild pitch and De La Cruz 2 run single. Conine started and allowed 2 runs over 6 innings of work. Scrubb and Ferrell had scoreless outings in relief. Velazquez closed it out allowing a run but the Skeeters won 10-3.
Note: Matijevic has 10 HR, 30 RBI in 32 games this season (1 HR in AAA)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-21) lost 10-8 (BOX SCORE)
Rough loss for the Hooks. Brown started and was dominant as he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts. He came out for the 6th and ran into trouble as he allowed 4 runs that inning. The offense got on the board early getting a Hensley RBI double in the first. In the 2nd they got 2 runs on Gonzalez and Adams RBI singles. Hensley added an RBI single in the 4th and then in the 5th they got a Manea RBI double and Julks RBI single to make it 6-0. After Frisco added 4 in the 6th, Adolph connected on a solo HR in the 7th to make it 7-4. Serrano came on to close it out in the 9th and ended up allowing 4 runs as Frisco took the lead. The Hooks tied it up in the 9th but ended losing it in the 10th as Frisco scored 2 to win it.
Note: Brown has 26 K over his last 14 innings.

Freure started and allowed 1 run over 4 innings. He was relieved by Brown who allowed 2 runs in his first inning and then tossed 4 scoreless. The offense got their first run in the 7th with an RBI groundout from Abreu. In the 9th they picked up another run on an Abreu RBI double but that was it for the comeback as they lost 3-2.
Note: Barefoot is hitting .333 with 1.017 OPS this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-24) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
De Paula started for the Woodpeckers and went 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs. Whitcomb put the Woodpeckers on the board in with 5th with a solo HR. In the 6th, Corona tied it up with an RBI single. Daniels gave the Woodpeckers the lead in the 7th with a 2 run double. Unfortunately the bullpen wasn’t able to hold the lead as Vega age up 3 runs and the Woodpeckers lost 5-4.
