Astros Minor League Recap: May 30th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (15-6) won 8-0 (BOX SCORE)

Torres started for the Skeeters and tossed 4 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Dawson put the Skeeters on the board in the 3rd inning with a grand slam, his 2nd HR of the season. That was followed up with a Siri RBI single and Hinojosa sacrifice fly as the Skeeters took a 6-0 lead. In the 6th, the offense added two more runs on a Toro RBI single and a run scoring on an error. Martinez relieved Torres and tossed 2 scoreless with 5 strikeouts. McKee closed it out with 3 perfect innings and 5 strikeouts to seal the win.

Note: Dawson is hitting .318 with 21 BB in 18 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (11-12) won 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bermudez started for the Hooks and went 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out 6. It took a while to get the offense going but they put up a 3 spot in the 6th on a Leon bases loaded walk and a Stubbs 2 run single. In the 7th, the Hooks got two more runs on a Gonzalez 2 run HR. The offense added more insurance in the 8th scoring two runs on a Matijevic RBI single and Hensley RBI single. France closed it out tossing 4 perfect innings with 7 strikeouts.

Note: Bermudez has a 2.66 ERA with 3 BB/39 K in 23.2 innings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (12-11) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board early scoring 2 runs in the first on a fielder’s choice and error. Ruppenthal got the start for the Tourists and went 3 innings allowing 4 runs. He was relieved by Endersby who allowed 2 runs over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts. Tejada tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief but the offense was unable to get anything else going.

Note: Tejada has a 1.32 ERA with 20 K in 13.2 innings.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (9-15) lost 12-2 (BOX SCORE)

Barry started for Fayetteville and struggled allowing 5 runs over 3.2 innings, all scoring in the 4th. The Woodpeckers got their first run in the 4th on a Paulino solo HR. Vega relieved Barry and allowed 4 runs in 2.1 innings. The offense got one run back in the 7th on an Alvarez sac fly, but Meszaros came in and allowed 3 more runs as the Woodpeckers lost 12-2.
