Astros Minor League Recap: May 29th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (14-6) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Solomon started for the Skeeters and absolutely dominated tossing 6 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts. The Skeeters got their first run in the 3rd on a wild pitch. In the 6th they picked up another run on a Papierski RBI triple. Ferrell tossed 1.2 scoreless in relief and Blanco closed it out striking out 4 over the final 1.1 innings to seal the win.

Note: Ferrell has a 0.00 ERA with 7 K in 5.2 innings.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (10-12) won 9-2 (BOX SCORE)

Mushinski started for the Hooks and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned while striking out 3. The Hooks picked up their first run in the first inning on a passed ball. In the 3rd they a run on a Matijevic solo HR, his 6th of the season. The Hooks extended the lead in the 4th getting 3 runs on a Kessinger RBI groundout and a Manea 2 run HR. Gonzalez added a 2 run HR in the 5th to extend the lead to 7-2. Manea added an RBI double and Kessinger added an RBI single to add some insurance and extend the lead. Kelly tossed 1.1 scoreless in relief and Lawson closed it out with 3 scoreless innings.

Note: Matijevic has 4 HR in his last 5 games.


A+: Asheville Tourists (12-10) lost 12-2 (BOX SCORE)

Cody got the start for the Tourists and lasted just 0.2 innings allowing 2 runs. In the 1st inning the Tourists got on the board with a Schreiber sacrifice fly. In the 3rd, Barefoot added a solo HR, his 7th HR of the season. The bullpen struggled as Horrell, Casey, Ceballos, and Procopio all allowed runs. Serrano tossed a scoreless 9th but the offense was unable to get anything else going as they lost 12-2.

Note: Serrano has 19 K in 7.1 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (10-13) lost 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

The offense came out hot getting a run in the first on a Correa RBI double. In the 2nd they picked up 3 runs on a Corona sac fly and Whitcomb 2 run HR. Ramirez added a 2 run double in the 3rd to take a 6-0 lead. Taveras started last night and ran into some trouble in the 3rd and 4th as he allowed 5 runs in 3.1 innings. De Paula went 3 innings in relief and allowed 1 run while striking out 5. Jaquez pitched the 8th and gave up a run as the RiverDogs took a 7-6 lead. The offense was unable to respond as they lost 7-6.

Note: Correa has 12 RBI in 20 games this season.
