Astros Minor League Recap: May 19th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (7-5) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (5-7) POSTPONED


A+: Asheville Tourists (6-7) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ruppenthal got the start and went 4.1 innings allowing 3 runs with 8 strikeouts. The Tourists got on the board in the 3rd with a solo HR from McKenna. In the 4th, they picked up 2 more runs on back to back homers from Lee and Schreiber. Lee added a 2 run single in the 5th and Krabbe added an RBI in the 7th to make it 7-3. Endersby closed it out with 4 scoreless innings striking out 7.

Note: Endersby has 21 K in 13 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (7-7) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Melendez started for the Woodpeckers last night and went 3 innings allowing 1 run with 6 strikeouts. He was relieved by Vega who went 2.2 innings allowing 3 runs, 1 earned. The offense finally got on the board in the 6th on a Rodriguez RBI single. They got another run in the 8th to cut it to 4-2 on a Rodriguez RBI groundout. The GreenJackets added another 3 runs off of Garcia in the 8th to extend the lead. Whitcomb added a solo HR in the 9th but it wasn’t nearly enough for a comeback.

Note: Melendez has 19 K in 10 innings with a 0.90 ERA this season.
