Astros Minor League Recap: May 1st, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (15-10)

Game 1 – won 12-5 (BOX SCORE)

Bostick got the start in this one and allowed 5 runs in the first inning. He buckled down though and followed that up with 4 scoreless to help save the pen. The offense exploded in the 5th scoring 6 runs on a Fisher 2 run single, Straw RBI single, Alvarez RBI single, Jones RBI single, and Ferguson RBI walk. In the 4th inning they added 4 more runs on a Fisher solo HR, Alvarez RBI double, and Ferguson 2 run single. They weren’t done though as Alvarez would add another RBI double in the 5th and De Goti had an RBI double in the 6th. McCurry closed it out tossing 2 scoreless innings.

Note: Fisher is hitting .341 over his last 10 games.

Game 2 – won 9-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Express followed up their big game one by scoring 7 runs in the first inning of game 2. In that inning they got an Alvarez RBI single, Tanielu sac fly, and a De Goti grand slam. In the 2nd inning, Alvarez connected on a 2 run HR, his 12th HR of the season in just 23 games. Hartman got the start and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work. Deetz and Guduan both had scoreless outings to close it out.

Note: Alvarez is hitting .462 with 5 HR, 16 RBI over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (13-13) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Great pitching from the Hooks last night. Bielak got the start and turned in his best outing of the season allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work. Goetzman put the Hooks on the board with a solo HR in the 4th. McCormick later added an RBI groundout to make it 2-0. In the 5th, Dawson connected on a 2 out, 2 run double for the 3rd and 4th run. Bukauskas relieved Bielak and tossed 4 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts while picking up the save. Back to back solid outings for JB.

Note: Goetzman is hitting .306 with 5 HR, 11 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (14-13) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Paredes got the start and started well but ran into trouble in the 4th and 5th as he allowed 4 earned runs over 4.2 innings. The Woodpeckers picked up their first run in the first on Meyers RBI groundout. In the 5th, they got a run on an Arauz RBI double. They entered the 9th down 2 runs and got one back on a Manea RBI single. Unfortunately, Angarita struck out with 2 guys on to end it.

Note: Shaver is hitting .343 over his last 10 games.
