Astros Minor League Recap: September 3rd, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (82-57) won 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Grizzlies ended their season with a nice comeback win. Bostick made his AAA debut allowing 4 runs over 5 innings while striking out 8. Fresno got on the board in the 4th when a run scored on an error. Tanielu added an RBI double in the 6th to give Fresno a second run. They would rally for 4 runs in the 8th on a Mayfield 2 run HR and Alvarez 2 run HR. Dykxhoorn relieved Bostick and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs with 11 strikeouts. The game went into extra innings and Fresno took the lead and win it on a Tanielu sac fly.

Note: Alvarez finishes the season with 20 HR, 74 RBI, .904 OPS in 88 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (82-56) won 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Adcock started for the Hooks and went 6 innings allowing just 1 unearned run. Rojas put the Hooks on the board in the first inning with a solo HR, his 8th of the season. Corpus Christi took the lead in the 6th scoring 5 runs on a Wrenn single, McCormick 2 run double, de Oleo RBI single, and another run scoring on a wild pitch. They got 2 more in the 9th on a Wrenn RBI triple and Rojas RBI double. Sierra and Pinales closed it out with scoreless outings.

Note: Dawson hit .289 with .859 OPS in 29 AA games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (80-57) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

LaRue started for Buies Creek and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings with all 3 runs scoring in the first inning. Buies Creek immediately responded scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first on a Julks 3 run HR. Buies Creek took the lead in the 5th inning on a solo HR from Matijevic (22) and a 2 run HR from Beer (12). The bullpen was flawless tossing 4 scoreless innings to close it out.

Note: Matijevic finished the season with 22 HR and a .887 OPS over 101 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (81-59) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rosado finished the season strong allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. Quad Cities scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning on a Sierra RBI double and another run scoring on a wild pitch. France and Mushinski tossed scoreless outings to close it out.

Note: Mushinski last 10 outings – 0.00 ERA, 21.1 IP, 7 H, 34 K


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (42-33) lost 9-6 (BOX SCORE)
