Astros Minor League Recap: September 2nd, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (81-57) lost 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough game for the Fresno offense as they managed just 3 hits, all singles. Emanuel got the start but struggled allowing 6 runs, 5 earned over 4 innings. The bullpen was solid but the offense was shutout in the 7-0 loss.

Note: Guduan has 80 K in 54.1 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (81-56) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bukauskas made his AA debut last night and was phenomenal tossing 6 scoreless innings while striking out 8. The offense started slow but finally got on the board in the 8th on a de Oleo RBI single. Jones added an RBI single in the 9th for some insurance. Scheetz closed it out with 3 scoreless innings.

Note: Bukuaskas has a 2.14 ERA with 71 K in 59 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (79-57) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Buies Creek got the scoring started in this one scoring 2 runs in the 2nd inning on a Canelon 2 run single. Ivey started for the Astros and allowed 1 run over 5 innings. The game ended up being finished early due to rain after five innings, meaning Ivey got the complete game win.

Note: Ivey has a 2.97 ERA with 29 BB/135 K in 112 innings.

  • Tyler Ivey, RHP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K (WIN)

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (80-59) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Garcia got the start and pitched well allowing just 1 unearned run which came in the first inning. He was relieved by Paulino who tossed 3 scoreless innings. The River Bandits were scoreless headed into the 8th but tied the game at 1 on a bases loaded walk to Taylor. The River Bandits loaded the bases in the 9th and walked it off on a run scoring fielder’s choice to win it 2-1.

Note: Garcia has a 2.00 ERA with 98 K in 85.1 innings this season.
