Astros Minor League Playoff Recap: September 7th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (2-1) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno offense struggled last night picking up just 3 hits during the game. Armenteros started for the Grizzlies and allowed 2 runs over 6 innings, with both runs coming in the first inning. The pitching didn’t allow another run but the Grizzlies were shutout as they dropped game this one 2-0.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (2-0) tied 8-8 suspended due to rain (BOX SCORE)


A+: Buies Creek Astros (3-0) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Buies Creek finished off the sweep last night and will move onto the Carolina League final. Ivey started and was great going 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs (both in the 8th) while striking out 6. The offense started slow but Beer put them on the board with a 3 run HR in the 6th inning. Buies Creek flexed their muscles in the 7th getting a solo HR from Bohanek, Adams, and Duarte. Winston-Salem fought back scoring 5 runs but McKee was able to hold on for the save and finish the sweep.
