Astros Minor League Playoff Recap: September 5th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (1-0) won 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Rodgers started game 1 for Fresno and struggled a bit allowing 5 runs over 4 innings. Fresno jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the first inning on an Alvarez 2 run double, Fisher groundout, and another run scoring on an error. They fell behind 5-4 but rallied for 3 runs in 5th on a Tanielu 2 run HR and a run scoring wild pitch. El Paso tied it up in the 7th and they game would move to extras. In the 10th Straw came through with an RBI single to give Fresno an 8-7 lead. The bullpen was solid and able to close it out to put them up 1-0 in the series.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-0) won 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman started game 1 for the Hooks and dominated going 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out 7. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs on a Rojas 2 run double. In the 6th they picked up 2 more runs on a Rojas RBI double and a Jones RBI single. They added on 3 more insurance runs in the 7th on a Wrenn RBI single and two runs scoring on an error. Bielak closed it out tossing 1.1 scoreless innings.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (1-0) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Saldana started for Buies Creek and turned in a quality start allowing 3 runs over 6 innings. Buies Creek took the lead in the 5th scoring 3 runs on a Robinson solo HR and Julks 2 run single.Winston-Salem got a run back in the 7th but Buies Creek responded with another run on a bases loaded walk to De La Cruz in the bottom of the inning. They picked up a much needed insurance run in the 8th on an Adams RBI double. Winston-Salem scored 1 in the 9th but Paredes was able to hold on for the win.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (0-1) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough first game for the River Bandits offense. They had just four hits and were unable to put a run on the board. Sandoval allowed 2 runs in the first 4 innings and Rodriguez allowed another run in relief but Quad Cities would drop this one 3-0.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (1-0) won 9-6 (BOX SCORE)
