Astros Minor League Recap: August 9th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (67-49) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Armenteros has been pitching well of late and it continued last night as he went 6 innings allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts. Tucker homered for the 3rd straight game last night connecting on a solo shot in first, his 17th of the season. The Grizzlies took a 3-1 lead in the 7th on a Tanielu 2 run HR. Valdez made his AAA debut going 3 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 3 as he picked up the win.

Note: Tucker is hitting .378 with 4 HR, 12 RBI over his last 10 AAA games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (71-45) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Another 1 run win for the Hooks last night. Bielak got the start and was very good going 8 innings while allowing just 1 earned run. Toro got the Hooks on the board in the 5th with an RBI double to tie it at 1. The game would go to the 9th tied 1-1 and Benedetti played hero again on a walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the 9th.

Note: Bielak has a 2.14 ERA with 112 K in 101 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (65-50) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bukauskas started for Buies Creek last night and was tremendous as he went 6 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Matijevic put the Astros on the board with a solo HR (17) in the first inning. In the 2nd inning, Arauz connected on a 2 run HR to make it 3-0. Buies Creek added some insurance with an RBI double from Matijevic and a Duarte RBI single in the 5th. Sanabria and McKee had scoreless outings in relief to close it out.

Note: Bukauskas has a 1.25 ERA with 34 K in 28.2 innings over his last 8 outings.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (65-50) POSTPONED


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (30-22) won 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Note: McKenna is hitting .424 over his last 10 games.
