Astros Minor League Recap: August 8th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (66-49) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (70-45) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Dykxhoorn started for the Hooks but only lasted 4.2 innings, though he allowed just 1 run. The Hooks got on the board in the first inning on a Correa RBI groundout. They picked up another run in the 5th on a Birk RBI triple. Bailey made his AA debut going 3.2 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 6. The game went to the 9th tied at 2 but Benedetti put a quick end to it with a walk-off HR in the 9th inning.

Note: Bailey has 119 K in 101.1 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (64-49) Game Suspended in the 6th


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (65-50) won 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Donato started for the River Bandits and pitched well allowing just 1 earned run over 5 innings. Quad Cities got on the board in the first inning on an RBI groundout from Shaver. Schreiber connected on a solo HR in the 5th. In the 6th, Quad Cities scored 2 runs on a Costes 2 run HR. The River Bandits put the game out of reach in the 8th on a Lacroix 3 run HR. The bullpen was solid with Castellanos and Mushinski tossing 2 scoreless innings each to close it out.

Note: Donato has a 2.11 ERA with 58 K in 47 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (29-22) won 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Note: McKenna is hitting .394 over his last 10 games.
