Astros Minor League Recap: July 25th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (60-43) won 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed started for Fresno last night and pitched really well tossing 6 scoreless innings. The Grizzlies blew the game open in the 2nd inning scoring 6 runs on a Straw RBI single, Stubbs 3 run HR, and Fisher 2 run HR. They picked up 3 more runs in the 4th on a White RBI double and Mayfield 2 run HR. Emanuel closed it out allowing 1 run over 3 innings.

Note: Fisher is hitting .361 with 3 HR, 10 RBI over his last 10 games.

  • Cy Sneed, RHP: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (WIN)
  • Kent Emanuel, LHP: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K (SAVE)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (63-39) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough day for the Corpus Christi offense as they managed just four hits and no runs. Valdez started for the Hooks and allowed 1 run while striking out 9 over 4.2 innings. Ferrell and Pinales were very good in relief but the offense was unable to put anything together as they lost 1-0.

Note: Ferrell has a 2.21 ERA with 64 K in 53 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (57-44) POSTPONED


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (56-45) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Wild game last night. Rodriguez started for the River Bandits and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Quad Cities got on the board in the 3rd on a Schreiber RBI groundout. They picked up another run in the 5th on a Costes RBI single. A Taylor RBI single in the 6th made it 3-0. Rosado relieved Rodriguez and allowed 3 runs over 3 innings and the game went to extras. Quad Cities picked up 3 in the 10th on a Hensley RBI single and Angarita 2 run single. Burlington tried to rally scoring 2 runs but Collado came in and closed the door getting the final out in the 605 win.

Note: Beer is hitting .344 in 25 games for Quad Cities.
