Astros Minor League Recap: July 18th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (55-41) lost 12-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed started for Fresno last night but struggled allowing 8 runs in 4 innings of work. He was relieved by Emanuel who allowed 2 runs in his 3 innings. Alvarez got Fresno on the board with a solo HR in 7th. They picked up another run on a groundout in the 8th but that is all they would get. Ferrell struck out 4 over 2 innings, though he allowed 2 runs as well.

Note: Ferrell has 43 K in 31.0 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (61-34) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Not very often do you outhit your opponent 12-11 and lose 4-1, but Corpus Christi did last night. Bielak got the start and allowed 2 runs over 5.2 innings. The Hooks only managed to score one run on a De Goti RBI single in the 8th. Scheetz and Blanco allowed a run each in relief as the Hooks lost 4-1.

Note: Bielak has a 1.74 ERA with 94 K in 77.2 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (54-42) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Well pitched game in Buies Creek last night. Bailey started for Buies Creek and tossed 5 no-hit innings before being pulled. He was relieved by Valdez who allowed 1 hit and no runs over his 4 innings of work. The game went to extras and Sanabria held Salem scoreless in the top of the 10th. In the bottom of the inning, Julks won it with a walk-off sac fly.

Note: Bailey has a 1.80 ERA with 50 K in 50 innings over his last 10 outings.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (53-42) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Mushinski started for Quad Cities and lasted 4.2 innings while allowing 1 run. The River Bandits got on the board in the 2nd on a Shaver sac fly. Quad Cities took the lead in the 6th on a Taylor RBI single. Solomon relieved Mushinski and was very good going 3.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Collado closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Solomon has a 2.11 ERA with 85 K in 72.2 innings this season.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (18-14) lost 11-5 (BOX SCORE)
