Astros Minor League Recap: July 15th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (54-39) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Rodgers made his first AAA start since April 19th, 2017. He went 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Fresno jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the first inning with a Fisher solo HR, Davis RBI single, and Mayfield RBI single. Tanielu added a sac fly in the 3rd for Fresno’s 4th run of the night. The Grizzlies picked up another run in the 7th on a Jones sac fly. Dykxhoorn tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief and McCurry tossed a perfect 9th to pick up the save.

Note: Davis is hitting .341 with 3 HR, 9 RBI over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (60-32) lost 9-7 (BOX SCORE)

Martin started for the Hooks and had his first rough outing in a while allowing 7 hits and 3 runs in 4 innings of work. The Hooks had an early lead when they picked up 2 runs in the first on a Cesar 2 run double. De Goti tied the game at 3 on a solo HR in the 4th. Quintana continued his hot hitting with a solo HR in the 6th. Corpus Christi and Frisco exchanged runs over the final 4 innings but the Hooks bullpen was unable to maintain the lead as Ferrell and Pinales allowed multiple runs. Benedetti added a solo HR in the 7th and De Goti had a 2 run double in the 8th but it wasn’t enough.

Note: Quintana is hitting .444 with 6 HR, 19 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (53-41) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

LaRue got the start for Buies Creek and struggled allowing 8 hits and 5 runs in 4 innings. After falling behind 5-0 the Astros would rally scoring 2 in the 5th on an Arauz RBI double and another run scoring on the error. Dawson added a solo HR in the 6th and Canelon added a solo HR in the 7th to make it 5-4. Ivey relieved LaRue and pitched well allowing 1 run over 4 innings with 7 strikeouts. Unfortunately, Buies Creek was unable to score again.

Note: Ivey has 18 BB/91 K in 75.2 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (52-41) won 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Solis got the start and was solid allowing just 2 hits in 5.2 scoreless innings. Hensley got the River Bandits on the board with a 2 run HR in the 2nd inning. Shaver added a 2 run HR in the 3rd to make it 4-0. The scoring continued with Mattix driving in a run with a single in the 4th. Beer added a little more insurance with a solo HR in the 7th inning. Abreu relieved Solis was great striking out 6 in 3.1 no-hit innings.

Note: Solis has allowed 3 ER over his last 22.1 innings while striking out 24.
