Astros Minor League Recap: June 7th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (36-24) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed had been pitching well recently and he was very good again last night going 6 scoreless innings while striking out 8. The Grizzlies got on the board in the second on a Kemmer RBI single and Davis scoring on a wild pitch. They put up 2 more runs in the 3rd on sac flies from White and Reed. In the 7th, White connected on a 2 run HR for a couple more insurance runs. The bullpen allowed a couple runs but were able to close it out.

Note: Sneed last 5 starts – 1.36 ERA, 33.0 IP, 27 H, 5 BB, 30 K

  • Reymin Guduan, LHP: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
  • Ralph Garza, RHP: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
  • Buddy Boshers, LHP: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K (SAVE)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (35-24) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Valdez got the start and turned in a quality outing allowing 2 runs over 6 innings with 6 strikeouts. The Hooks offense really struggled though scoring just 1 run on a McCormick sac fly in the 4th. The bullpen didn’t allow a run but the offense was unable to score again.

Note: Cesar is on a 28 game hitting streak in which he is hitting .391 with 7 HR, 25 RBI.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-27) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey made his second appearance for Buies Creek and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. Toro tied the game in the 4th inning with a 2 run HR, his 9th of the season. Balaguer relieved Ivey and allowed 2 runs in just 0.2 innings. Saldana went 4.1 scoreless innings to finish the game but the offense wasn’t able to score anymore runs.

Note: Toro has 16 2B, 9 HR, 42 RBI in 59 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (32-28) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Another rough offense performance in the system last night. The Quad Cities offense has just 4 hits on the night and were unable to push across a run. Javier started the game and pitched well allowing just 1 run over his 6 innings of work but had no help from the offense.

Note: Javier has a 1.82 ERA with 80 K in 49.1 innings this season.
