Astros Minor League Recap: June 5th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (35-23) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

James got the start last night and was dominant going 7 shutout innings while striking out 13. He now has 80 K in 50 innings this season. Colorado Springs had nice pitching too as the game would go to the 9th scoreless. In the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and one out, Kemmer lined a walk-off RBI single off the pitcher to win it 1-0.

Note: James has a 2.52 ERA with 19 BB/80 K in 50 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (34-23) won 9-2 (BOX SCORE)

Martin got the start and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 5 innings. The Hooks got on the board in the second inning on a McCormick 2 run HR, his first Double-A at bat. The Hooks broke the game open in the 4th getting 6 runs on a McCormick bases loaded HBP, De Goti sac fly, Sierra 2 run single, Straw RBI single, and Reddick RBI double. Alcala relieved Martin and went 4 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run to close it out.

Note: Ritchie is hitting .389 with 8 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (32-25) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Tough night for LaRue. He went 6 innings allowing 10 hits and 6 runs. The offense tried to chip away getting one in the 4th on a Dawson homer and one in the 5th on Toro RBI double. Robinson added a sac fly in the 6th. Buies Creek went into the 9th down 7-3 but was only able to get one run as they dropped this one 7-4.

Note: Matijevic is hitting .331 with 21 XBH in 37 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (32-26) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

The offense struggled to get anything going in this one. Solis made his second start of the season and 2 runs, 1 earned over 5 innings, though he didn’t record a single strikeout. He was relieved by Solomon who struck out 4 over 3 innings allowing 1 run. The offense only picked up 4 hits with their lone run of the game coming on a De La Cruz RBI single in the 9th.

Note: Solomon has a 2.83 ERA with 50 K in 41.1 innings this season.
