Astros Minor League Recap: June 24th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (46-29) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (48-27) lost 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

Whitley made his 4th start of the season for Corpus Christi but had his first rough outing allowing 7 runs over 4.1 innings. The Hooks scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning on a Jones RBI double and Rojas RBI double. Jones added a sac fly in the 4th inning. Cesar added a solo HR in the 6th inning but the offense was unable to score again as they fell 9-4.

Note: Cesar is hitting .389 over his last 10 games and extended his hitting streak to 41 games.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (39-34) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Bailey started for Buies Creek last night and allowed 4 runs, all in the 2nd inning, over 5 innings of work. Buies Creek tried to rally back getting a run on a Robinson RBI single. They got another run in the 5th on a Dawson RBI double. Dawson added an solo HR in the 7th to make it 4-3. Unfortunately, the offense wasn’t able to score any more runs and fell 4-3.

Note: Toro is hitting .355 with 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (41-33) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning on an Angarita 2 run double. Paredes tossed 4.2 scoreless innings to start it and was relieved by Sanabria who allowed 5 runs in the 6th inning. Collado came in and allowed 3 runs in the 7th innings. The River Bandits fell by a final of 8-2.

Note: Angarita is hitting .320 with 9 RBI in 12 games for Quad Cities.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (6-4) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
