Astros Minor League Recap: June 14th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (39-27) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sneed started for Fresno and started off the game well with 5 scoreless innings but then allowed 3 runs in the 6th. He ended up going 5.1 innings allowing the 3 runs. The Fresno offense struggled scoring just 1 run on a Tanielu RBI single in the 6th. New Orleans picked up another run in the 7th as they won 4-1.

Note: Federowicz is hitting .346 in 30 games for Fresno this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (40-26) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Hartman got the start for the Hooks last night and allowed 1 run over 5 innings with 6 strikeouts. He was relieved by Quiala who tossed 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. The Hooks offense struggled for most of the night but Rojas connected on a 2 run HR in the 8th inning to give Corpus Christi a 2-1 lead. Ferrell closed it out with a scoreless 9th inning.

Note: Ferrell last 10 outings – 0.71 ERA, 12.2 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 16 K


A+: Buies Creek Astros (36-30) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for the offense as they managed just 3 hits, all singles. Ivey got the start and pitched pretty well allowing 2 runs over 5 innings of work. He was relieved by Perez who tossed 3 scoreless innings but the offense was unable to push across a run.

Note: Perez has 16 K over his last 9.2 innings and 63 K in 53.2 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (37-30) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

The River Bandits got on the board with 3 runs in the 4th inning on a Shaver RBI groundout and a Sierra 2 run single. Rosado started the game for Quad Cities and dominated going 7.2 innings allowing just 1 unearned run and striking out 5. The River Bandits would pick up 2 more insurance runs in the 8th on a De La Cruz RBI single. Sanabria retired the last hitter in the 9th to get the save.

Note: Julks is hitting .333 over his last 10 games.
