Astros Minor League Recap: May 24th, 2018

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (28-20) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Brock Dykxhoorn made his AAA debut last night and was very good allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work. The Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead in the 4th on a Garcia RBI single and Bohanek sac fly. Reno retook the lead in the 7th but Fresno tied it on a Ferguson sac fly. The game would move to the 10th where Reno picked up a run. The Grizzlies were unable to score in the bottom of the inning and dropped this one in extras.

Note: Dykxhoorn now has a 2.93 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (27-20) lost 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Corbin Martin got the start last night and absolutley dominated going 7.2 scoreless innings while picking up 9 strikeouts. Unfortunately, he didn’t get any offensive help as the offense failed to score. Sprinfield would score 4 runs in the 10th to win it.

Note: Martin last 4 outings – 20.0 IP, 12 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 20 K


A+: Buies Creek Astros (26-21) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Buies Creek struggled last night offensively but did pick up a run in the 4th on a Sieber groundout. Adcock got the start and struggled a bit allowing 3 runs in 3.2 innings. The offense was unable to put anything else together and dropped this one 3-1.

Note: Toro has 28 BB and a .380 OBP in 47 games this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (25-21) lost 11-1 (BOX SCORE)

Another rough loss for an Astros minor league team last night. Rosado got the start and allowed 1 run over 5 innings. The River Bandits would tie the game with a run in the 5th on a Shaver solo HR. The bullpen relaly struggled allowing 10 runs over the 7th and 8th innings and Quad Cities lost 11-1.

Note: Arauz is hitting .500 (8-for-16) over his last 4 games.
