Astros Minor League Recap: June 14th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (32-34) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Martinez was on the mound for the Grizzlies last night and allowed 4 runs over 6 inning pitched. Fresno fell behind 4-0 early but started a comeback in the 6th getting 1 run on an RBI single from Tucker. In the 7th they would get another run on a White RBI single to make it 4-2. Unfortunately, the bullpen gave up 3 runs (unearned) in the 8th to put the game out of reach.

Note: Moran is hitting .382 with 5 HR, 11 RBI over his last 8 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (30-34) POSTPONED


A+: Buies Creek Astros (35-31) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Buies Creek scored first in this one with an RBI single in the first inning. Alcala got the start and allowed 4 runs, 3 earned over 5 innings of work. Ferrell was solid in relief tossing 2.1 scoreless innings. Cesar hit his first HR in High-A and 4th HR over all, a solo shot, in the 9th inning to make it 4-2 but Buies Creek was unable to mount a full comeback and fell 4-2.

Note: Cesar is hitting .351 over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (34-30) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

Cionel Perez got the start last night and had a good outing going 5.1 scoreless innings with 0 BB/6 K. Perez has a 3.05 ERA over his last 8 outings. Quad Cities jumped out to an earl 1-0 lead on a Jones RBI single scoring Alvarez. In the 2nd inning, Alvarez came through with a 2 out, 2 run single to make it 3-0.

The River Bandits picked up another run in the 3rd on a Henderson RBI single. Alvarez led off the 5th with a HR, his 7th HR of the season and third hit of the game. Robinson added a 2 run single in the 6th to make it 7-0. Saldana allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings and Pinales tossed a scoreless 9th to close it.

Note: Alvarez 18 RBI over his last 10 games.
