Astros Minor League Recap: June 10th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (30-33) won 9-5 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno showed off their power last night in El Paso. White got the party started with a solo HR in the first inning to make it 1-0. In the 2nd inning, Moran and Reed hit back to back HR, giving both players 10 HR on the season. In the 4th inning, Fresno put up 3 more runs on a Stassi solo HR, Garcia RBI double, and a White RBI single.
Moran would add a 2 run HR in the 5th inning, his 11th of the season in just 48 games after having 10 HR in 117 games last year. White capped the scoring with another solo HR in the 6th inning. Thornton got the start and was great tossing 6 shutout innings with 0 walks to 4 strikeouts. McCurry gave up a few runs in relief but Guduan and Jankowski closed it out with scoreless appearances.
Note: White it hitting .333 with 3 HR, 9 RBI over his last 10 games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (30-31) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
Another loss where the offense struggled. While the offense managed 8 hits, they scored only 1 run. That run came in the 2nd inning on a Woodward RBI single. Woodward and Martin both had two hits a piece. Smith got the start and was phenomenal once again going 6 innings allowing just 1 unearned run.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (33-29) lost 8-7 (BOX SCORE)
Tough loss late for Buies Creek. After falling behind 4-0, they responded with 2 runs in the 2nd inning on a McCall RBI double and Sierra RBI groundout. They would eventually take a lead in the 4th on an RBI walk to DeGoti, RBI single from Rogers, RBI single from Hermelyn and another run scoring on an error.
Hector Perez got the start and really struggled allowing 5 runs, 4 earned over 3.2 innings with 5 walks to 1 strikeout. Straw added an RBI single in the 5th to make it 7-5. Unfortunately, the bullpen gave up a run to Wilmington in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings as they won it 8-7.
Note: Straw is hitting .386 with 6 RBI, 6 SB over his last 10 games.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (32-28) won 13-5 (BOX SCORE)
Quad Cities offense went to work last night. They started early getting a run in the first inning on a Dawson sac fly. In the 3rd inning they would get 4 more runs on an Almonte solo HR, RBI hit by pitch for Jones, and 2 run double from Cameron. In the 5th, Cameron added another RBI double. Sanabria was on the mound last night and struggled allowing 4 runs over 3 innings.
Pinales relieved him and tossed 4 scoreless innings with 1 strikeout. The offense continued to play add on getting 3 in the 8th on a 3 run HR from Benedetti. They would get 4 more runs in the 9th inning on a bases loaded HBP by Alvarez, 2 runs scoring on an error and an RBI groundout from Duarte.
