Astros Minor League Recap: May 13th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (15-21) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)
It took a few innings to get going but the offense was able to break through in the middle innings. Hauschild made his second start this season with Fresno and allowed 2 runs in 4 innings. Reed and Brignac hit back to back RBI doubles in the 4th inning to tie the game at 2. In the 5th inning, Tucker connected on a 2 run double. Kemp added an RBI single in the 6th and and White added an RBI double in the 7th to make it 6-2. OKC tried to battle back getting a 2 run HR but Jankowski was able to slam the door shut in the 9th inning.
Note: Fisher is now hitting .336 this season and is currently riding a 16 game hit streak.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (16-19) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)
Corpus finally broke their losing streak last night. James got the start and flirted with trouble a bunch (4 walks) but ended allowing just 1 run in his 5 innings of work. It looked like it was going to be another tough night for the offense but they broke through in the 6th inning. Trompiz got them on the board with an RBI single and then Boyd followed with an RBI single later in the inning. Singleton blew the game open though crushing a grand slam to make it 6-1. He wasn’t done though as he added an RBI double in the 8th inning. Armenteros pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief striking out 5.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (22-14) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)
Solid win for Buies Creek. Ferrel was on the mound for the Astros and turned in a very good performance allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work. McCall got their scoring started with a solo HR to lead off the 3rd inning. Two batters later, Martin added an RBI triple to give BC a 2-1 lead. Tucker added an RBI groundout in the 5th to make it 3-1. Down East got a run in the 6th but Tucker added some more insurance with an RBI single in the 8th inning. Hernandez struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th inning to pick up the save.
Note: Tucker has 5 HR, 11 RBI, 9 BB over his last 10 games.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (16-18) lost 10-9 (BOX SCORE)
Gut wrenching loss for Quad Cites. Hartman started the game for the River Bandits and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. Ayarza got Quad Cities on the board with an RBI single in the first inning. In the 5th inning, Benedetti tied the game at 2 with an RBI double. Dayton opened up a big lead with a 5 spot in the 5th inning. Quad Cities would battle though getting 1 run in on a Henderson RBI double and 2 runs in the 8th on a Robinson 2 run HR. The River Bandits went into the 9th inning down 3 runs but with two outs, and two on, Ayarza hit a 3 run HR to tie it. Ayarza broke the tie in the top of the 11th with a 2 out, RBI single. Unfortunately, Pinales was unable to pick up the save and Dayton won it on a walk-off sac fly.
Note: Ayarza is hitting .341 with 5 HR, 19 RBI in just 24 games.
