Houston Astros Minor League Recap: September 1st

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (70-69) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Tough late loss for the Grizzlies. Paulino made his third AAA start and tossed five shutout innings with five strikeouts. The game stayed scoreless until the 7th inning when Moran came through with an RBI single. Tacoma tied it up at 1 in the 8th inning. The game stayed 1-1 all the way until the bottom of the 14th when they won on a walk-off RBI single.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (82-54) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for the Corpus offense. Martes got the start last night and went 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) with 5 strikeouts. Deemes and Thompson both tossed scoreless outing in relief. The offense only managed three hits on the night, all singles, as Corpus fell 3-0.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (74-62) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

This game started off great but got away from Lancaster late. Hernandez got the start and went 7 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. Tucker got the scoring started off right with a solo HR in the bottom of the 1st. They would get another run in the 5th on a Wik RBI single. Garza came in the game with Lancaster leading 2-0 but ended up allowing 6 runs in 1.2 innings. Lancaster got a run back in the 9th on a Mizell solo HR but that was all they would get.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (60-75) win 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities gets back in the win column. Quad Cities jumped out to an early lead with 2 runs in the first inning with a run scoring on an error and another on a passed ball. Perez got the start and struggled with his command walking 6 in 3.1 innings and allowing 2 runs. The bullpen locked it down though with 5.2 scoreless innings. Porter added a sac fly in the 5th to give them a 3-2, which was the final score.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (36-36) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

ROOKIE: Greeneville Astros (33-34) POSTPONED
