Houston Astros Minor League Recap: August 29th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (70-66) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Fresno starts their last week of baseball this season with a win. The Grizzlies jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st on an RBI double from Worth and an RBI single from Moran. They would add two more runs in the 2nd thanks to a Kemmer RBI single and a Worth sac fly. Hauschild was on the mound for the first time since 08/14 and pitched well tossing 5 shutout innings lowering his season ERA to 3.10. In the 4th inning the Grizzlies added another run on a Fisher RBI double. The Grizzlies got good work from the pen as Jankowski tossed two scoreless innings to close it out.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (80-53) lost 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Emanuel had a rough go of it recently and last night was the same. He finished allowing 5 runs (4 earned) over his 5 innings of work. Corpus got on the board in the first inning on a Ferguson solo HR, his 2nd HR of the season. They would inch a bit closer in the 4th getting a run when Boyd walked, stole second and third, and scored on a Hyde sac fly. The Hooks would only get one more run which came on a Tanielu RBI single in the 7th. Unfortunately, the early deficit was too much to overcome.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (72-61) OFF

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (59-74) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Well pitched game in this one. Quad Cities got their first run early on a McCall RBI single in the first inning. Wisconsin responded with a run in the 2nd inning to tie it at 1. That would be the only run they got off the starter Bower as he went 5.1 innings with 6 strikeouts. The game stayed scoreless and went to extra innings thanks to shutout performances from Kessay and Whitt. In the bottom of the 10th, McCall lead off with a single and later advanced to second on a walk to Porter. With two outs Roa came through with a single to right field to drive in McCall for the walk-off RBI single.
