Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 21st

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (51-45) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough game for the Fresno offense last night. The offense together only managed two hits and both were from Kemp. Shirley got the start and struggled a bit early with his command. The big blow came in the 3rd inning on a Gallo 3 run HR. McCurry, Gustave, and Jankowski all tossed scoreless innings in relief but the offense was unable to get anything going.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (59-38) lost 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss in extra innings for Corpus. They scored early with an RBI single from Hyde in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning Davis added a 2 run HR, his 15th HR of the season. Corpus added to the lead in the 4th on a Fontana RBI single to make it 4-1. Grills was rolling through six but got roughed up for 4 runs in the 7th. Corpus retook the lead on a Pena 2 run HR. Unfortunately the bullpen gave up 1 in the 9th and 1 in the 10th and Corpus was unable to comeback.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (53-44) won 9-8 (BOX SCORE)

This was a rollercoaster of a baseball game. Lancaster got on the board in the 2nd inning with a solo HR from Muniz, his 9th of the season. In the 8th inning the Jethawks got back to back HR from Ferguson and Mizell. With 2 outs in the 9th Mizell hit a 2 run double to LF to tie the game. Lancaster fell behind by 1 in the 11th but in the bottom of the 11th Ferguson sent the fans home happy with a walk-off 2 run HR.
