Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 20th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (51-44) won 8-5 (BOX SCORE)
Crazy game in Round Rock. 13 totals runs scored but they all came in the 6th and 7th innings. Fresno scored first in the top of the 6th scoring 2 runs on a Moran RBI double and Mayfield RBI single. Valdez got the start for Fresno and was rolling through the first five before giving up 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Fresno would add to their lead though scoring 6 runs in the 7th. They scored the 6 runs on a Tucker RBI single, Moran 2 run single, and a 3 run HR from Kemmer. Valdez gave up 2 more runs before being relieved by Guduan who tossed 1.1 scoreless innings. Hoyt closed the door in the 9th picking up his 25th save of the season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (59-37) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
Corpus got the game started off right with a Fontana RBI double in the top of the first. In the 2nd inning on a Gregor RBI double and a Vasquez RBI groundout. They scored again in the 3rd on a McDonald RBI single. Martes was on the mound and pitched well early allowing 2 runs through the first 5 innings. He ran into some trouble in the 6th giving up 2 more runs. Peterson relieved him and gave up a 5th run, which would be the winning run as Corpus was unable to mount a comeback.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (45-50) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)
Nice to see the QC offense get going. The River Bandits entered the 3rd inning down 1-0 but took the lead with 2 runs on a Duarte RBI double and a Tucker RBI groundout. They would add 3 more runs on a Duarte RBI single, Tucker RBI single, and McCall RBI single. Dayton tried to amount a comeback scoring 3 runs to make it 5-4. In the 7th Duarte added an insurance run doubling and coming around to score on a wild pitch. Schmidt closed the game with 2.2 scoreless innings.
