Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 18th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (49-44) won 8-1 (BOX SCORE)
Rodgers was a late scratch so the Fresno bullpen had to piece this one together and they did a great job. McCurry got the start and pitched the first two innings without giving up a run. He ran into some trouble in the 3rd but Jankowski was able to bail him out. Jankowski ended up tossing 3 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Fresno got the scoring started in the first inning with a Moran RBI single scoring Bregman. In the 3rd inning, Fresno put up 4 runs thanks to a Singleton 2 run single and a Stassi 2 run double. Tucker added an RBI double in the 6th to extend the lead. White added the final insurance with a 2 run HR in the 8th inning, his 10th HR in AAA. Gustave closed the game with two scoreless innings.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (59-35) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
Emanuel got the start for the Hooks and had maybe his best outing of the season. He finished throwing 7 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts on just 83 pitches. Corpus scored first in the 2nd inning and took a 2-0 lead on an RBI single from Ramsay, who later scored on a wild pitch. Gregor would add a sac fly in the 8th to make it 3-0. Midland tried to rally with 2 runs in the 8th but Cotton was able to slam the door in the 9th and pick up the save.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (51-44) lost 8-3 (BOX SCORE)
James has been one of the better starters for the Jethawks this season but he got roughed up last night. He ended up allowing 8 runs in 6 innings, though he did have 9 strikeouts. Lancaster was scoreless until the 6th when they got an RBI single from Woodward. They would add two more runs in the 8th on RBI singles from Martin and Ritchie. McCanna tossed two scoreless innings to finish the game but Lancaster was unable to get anything else going. Laureano picked up 3 more hits and now has 21 hits in his last 10 games.

A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (17-14) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)
Tri-City got off to a great start in this one scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st on a 2 run single from Benedetti and an RBI single from Cesar. Sandoval pitched the first two innings not allowing a run. Valdez relieved him and was great. He went the next 5 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 9. The ValleyCats scored another run in the 5th on a Robinson RBI single. Dawson added some insurance with a 2 run HR in the 7th inning, his 3rd HR in his last two games. Hernandez pitched a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts to pick up the save.
