Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 25th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (36-38) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)
Tough loss for Fresno. Hauschild got the start and pitched well again. He went 7 innings and allowed just 1 run lowering his ERA to 3.02. Unfortunately they were unable to get anything going on offense except for two doubles, one from Kemmer and one from Fontana. Jankowski tossed 1.2 scoreless innings in relief with Guduan getting the last out.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (50-25) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
Shutout win for Corpus. Martes was on the mound last night and was fantastic. He went 7 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. The game stayed scoreless until the 6th inning when Fisher singled home Bregman to take a 1-0 lead. Corpus would add another run in the 8th on McDonald RBI single and another run in the 9th on an RBI double from Teoscar. West closed the game with two scoreless innings.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (35-37) lost 14-5 (BOX SCORE)
Rough night for the Jethawks pitching. Thornton got the start but gave up 10 hits and 6 runs over 4 innings of work. Lancaster got their scoring started with a solo HR from Ritchie. In the 4th, Ritchie would add another HR, this time a 2 run shot. The game would go to the 8th with Lancaster down just 6-4 but Lake Elsinore put up 8 runs in the final two innings. Mizell added a solo HR in the 7th and also added an RBI groundout in the 9th but it wasn’t enough.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (32-40) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)
Nice win for QC. They got the scoring started with 2 runs in the top of the 1st thanks to a run scoring on an error and an RBI single from McCall. In the 2nd inning Tucker hit a 3 run HR, his 2nd HR of the season. They would add another in the 4th on an RBI single from Michelena. A 2 run double by Straw in the 6th would cap off the scoring for the River Bandits. Bower got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs. Garza closed the game with two scoreless innings.

Tough first inning for Tri-City. They opened the game with 2 runs in the top of the inning thanks to a Birk RBI single and a Cesar sac fly. Unfortunately they gave up 7 runs in the first inning with 6 going to Sierra. Ramirez tossed four scoreless innings in relief. Only real note on the offensive side was Birk who had 3 hits, an RBI, and a stolen base.
