Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 24th

Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (36-37) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Another good start for Rodgers. He went 7.1 innings allowing just 1 run and lowering his ERA to 2.83. The one run charged to Rodgers came after he exited the game. Fresno scored their only 2 runs in the first inning on an RBI single from Moran and a solo HR from Tucker, his 4th in AAA. Following Rodgers, Chapman recorded one out. Hoyt came on to get the final out of the 8th inning and toss a scoreless 9th to pick up his 18th save.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (49-25) lost 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss for Corpus. They scored 4 in the 3rd inning with an RBI single from Vasquez, RBI double from Teoscar, and a HR from Fisher. They would add another in the 4th with a solo HR from Pena. Unfortunately, Yuhl got roughed up a bit giving up 4 runs over over 6 innings of work. Corpus extended their lead to 6-4 with an RBI single from Tanielu in the 7th. Peterson pitched bottom of the 7th and allowed 4 runs to score picking up the blown save. Gregor added a solo HR but it wasn’t enough.

Offense was quiet last night for Quad Cities. They scored first with two runs in the 2nd inning thanks to a 2 run HR from Hermelyn, his 2nd HR of the season. Murphy got the start and gave up 6 earned runs over 4.2 innings. Quiala came on in relief and tossed 3 innings allowing just 1 run. Unfortunately, the River Bandits were unable to get anything else going.
