Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 23rd
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (35-37) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
Musgrove gets back on track with a good outing. He went 6 innings giving up just 1 run with 7 strikeouts. Fresno got on the board with 2 runs in the 3rd inning thanks to a 2 run HR from Kemmer. They would add another run in the 4th on a Reed solo HR, his 11th of the season. In the 6th White hit a 2 run HR, his second consecutive game with a HR. Gustave relieved Musgrove and allowed 1 unearned run in 1.1 innings. McCurry pitched the final 1.2 innings with no runs and 3 strikeouts.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (49-24) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
Smith started for the Hooks and had his best outing of the season allowing 2 earned runs over 5 innings of work. Corpus scored 2 runs in the first inning with RBI singles from Fisher and Tanielu. The game was tied going to the 6th inning and McDonald gave Corpus the lead with a solo HR, his 12th HR of the season. Sneed pitched the final four innings and was absolutely lights out. He tossed four scoreless innings striking out 10.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (35-35) won 8-7 (BOX SCORE)
Nice way to start the second half for Lancaster. Dykxhoorn got the start for Lancaster and gave up 5 earned runs over 4.2 innings of work. The Jethawks got 1 in the 1st on an RBI triple from Muniz. In the 3rd inning the Jethawks would score 4 runs. In that inning they got a 2 run HR from Boyd and a 2 run double from Muniz. Lancaster would add another run in the 5th on an RBI single from Martin. Del Rosario tossed 2.1 scoreless inning in relief. The Jethawks would go into the 9th down a run and tie the game on a Marlow RBI single. They would win it in a walk-off in the 10th with a walk-off RBI double from Stubbs. Dorris picked up the win with 3 hitless innings.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (31-39) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)
Rough night for the Quad Cities offense as they managed just 1 hit. Their one hit was a single by Straw. Jose Hernandez got the start and pitched well going 5 innings allowing 3 hits, no runs, and 5 strikeouts. He was relieved by Elieser Hernandez and went the final 3 innings giving up 2 unearned runs with 4 strikeouts. Kyle Tucker returned to the lineup but went 0-for-3.

Tri-City got on the board first with an RBI single from Dawson in the bottom of the first inning. Perez got the start and allowed 1 run over 3 innings of work. Chavez pitched 4.1 innings in relief giving up just 1 run with 0 BB/3 K. TC added another run with Cesar scored on a wild pitched. Hernandez, Houston product, tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings to finish game and give the ValleyCats a chance in the 9th. DeGoti added a sac fly in the 9th to make it 4-3 but that is all they would get.
