Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 20th
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (32-37) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno picks up a solid win behind a great pitching performance behind Shirley. Shirley went 6 innings without allowing a run and striking out 5. Fresno got the scoring started with a Reed sac-fly in the first inning scoring Aplin who doubled. McCurry relieved Shirley and made his AAA debut. He pitched well going 2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. In the top of the 9th Reed hit a solo HR, his 10th of the season, to give Fresno a 2-0 lead. Hoyt allowed a run in the 9th but still picked up the save.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-23) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
It took 11 innings but Corpus picks up another win. Emanuel got the start and pitched well allowing 1 earned run in 5 innings of work. In the top of the Corpus picked up a run on a Gregor RBI double to tie the game at 1. Corpus would take the lead on a Davis RBI single in the 6th innings. Martes relieved Emanuel and went 4 innings allowing 1 run with 7 strikeouts. The game would stayed tied at 2 until the 11th when Corpus scored 3 runs thanks to a Garcia 2 run single and him eventually scoring on a wild pitch. West gave up a solo HR in the bottom of the 11th but was able to hold on for the win. Just to note, Bregman got hit in the head by a pitch and exited the game, though reports said he appeared to be okay.

Adcock made his professional debut in this but went just 1.2 innings giving up 1 run with 3 strikeouts. Castro pitched the next four innings but allowing 4 runs. TC got the offense started with 2 runs in the 3rd on a Wrenn RBI single and Cameron later scoring on an error. They would add 2 more runs in the 6th thanks to a 2 run double from Benedetti. Wrenn added a sac fly in the 7th to bring the ValleyCats within a run. With TC down a run, Rogers came through with an RBI double to tie the game in the 8th inning. The game would stay tied, primarily thanks to Sierra who tossed 6 scoreless innings in relief. In the top of the 14th Tri-City scored four runs on a 2 run single from Cameron and a 2 run HR from Wrenn. Brooklyn would rally for 3 runs but the ValleyCats would hold on for the win.
