Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 27th

All four teams in action with three of them walking away with a win. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (21-26) lost 17-4 (BOX SCORE)

Rough game for Fresno. It got off to a rough start with Hauschild allowing 6 runs in the first inning, though all were unearned. In unfortunate news, AJ Reed doubled but was pulled after running the bases. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. In the 4th Fresno was able to get 2 runs off of only 1 hit. Colorado Springs kept hitting though scoring another 6 runs in the 6th inning. Duffy did add a 2 run triple but that was all Fresno could get going.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-18) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Solid pitching leads to the win for the Hooks. Emanuel made his season debut and first start since April 27th, 2015. Emanuel went 5 innings allowed just 1 earned run. Corpus got the scoring started with an RBI single from Hernandez and an RBI double from Ramsay in the second inning. They would add a run in the 5th on a Bregman RBI single. Paulino relieved Emanuel and went 3 innings allowing 1 earned run and striking out two. Corpus would extend the lead to 4-2 on a Hernandez sac fly. West closed the game with a scoreless 9th inning.

  • Kent Emanuel, LHP: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K (WIN)
  • David Paulino, RHP: 3.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Aaron West, RHP: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K (SAVE)

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (22-24) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

A night after winning 29-11, the Jethawks pull out a 2-1 win. Jethawks got both runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI single from Sewald and Ferguson scoring on a passed ball. Deetz got the start and was fantastic. Through the first 6 innings he didn’t allow a run. He started the 7th and the first guy reached on an error. That guy ended up coming around on a baseball ball by Thome. Thome was great in relief though throwing 2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts. Dorris picked up the save with a scoreless 9th.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (21-26) won 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities has started to play better of late. QC got the scoring started with a Tucker RBI single in the first inning. Hernandez got the start and went 5 innings but gave up 4 earned runs. QC would battle back though with an RBI double from Ballard and RBI singles from Michelena and Straw. Person relieved Hernandez and struck out 3 over 3 scoreless innings. They would add two more runs on an RBI single from Goedert and a bases loaded walk to Porter. Whitt pitched a scoreless 9th to seal the win.
