Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 18th
Three of the four teams in the Astros system in action and it was a sweep! See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (15-23) OFF
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (23-15) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
Another day, another win for Corpus Christi. Cy Sneed got the start and pitched great going five innings allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven. Corpus got on the board in the first inning with a Ramsay 2 run HR, his 2nd of the season. JD Davis broke the tie in the 5th with a solo shot, his 4th of the season. Top prospect, Alex Bregman, capped off the scoring with a 2 run HR in the 7th inning, his 9th HR in just 26 games. Grills made his second debut for Corpus and again allowed zero runs pitching the final four innings.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (17-20) won 11-4 (BOX SCORE)
Lancaster has struggled to hit homers this season but were able to hit three homeruns last night. Nice to see them win a couple of games in a row. Weathersby got the start and gave up four runs in four innings. Lancaster got the scoring started with a solo HR from Stubbs in the first. Ritchie would also add an RBI single in the first inning. They added two more runs in the second with a 2 run double from Ramon Laureano. In the bottom of the 4th, Stubbs hit a 3 run HR, his second of the game giving him 3 total this season. Muniz and Martin hit back to back HRs in the bottom of the 8th to extend the lead. Dyxkhoorn pitched the final four innings allowing zero runs and striking out four.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (16-22) won 9-3 (BOX SCORE)
After getting shutout yesterday, Quad Cities unleashed the bats today pounding out 13 hits. Hermelyn had an RBI single in the 1st inning to start the scoring. QC would add another run in the 2nd from a Porter RBI double. McCanna got the start allowing just 1 earned run over 5 innings of work. In the bottom of the third, McCall, Mizell, and Sewald all drove in runs. QC wouldn’t stop there adding four more runs with 2 of them coming off the bat of Kyle Tucker. Tucker also stole two bases giving him 18 on the season. Perez made his season debut allowing 2 earned runs in 3 innings, though he struck out 5. Garza closed it out with a scoreless 9th.
