Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 10th

Three of the four teams in the Astros system in action but only one came away with a win. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (13-18) lost 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss for Fresno as they lose this one in extra innings. Rodgers got the start and pitched a quality start allowing 3 ER in 6 IP. Fresno was down 4-1 going into the bottom of the 7th when they rallied for four runs thanks to an RBI double from Duffy and a 3 run HR for Fontana. The lead didn’t last long as Tacoma put up two in the top of the 8th. Fresno entered the bottom of the 9th down one and Fontana hit an RBI single to tie the game. Unfortunately Tacoma scored one in the top of the 10th and Fresno wasn’t able to respond. Heineman and Fontana both had their first homers of the year.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (16-15) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

This win pushed Corpus back over .500. Young starter Francis Martes got the start and gave up 3 ER in 5 IP, an improvement from previous starts. Corpus got their scoring started with RBIs from Ramsay and Gonzalez in the 2nd inning. Corpus added two more runs in the bottom of the 5th with a 2 run HR from Alex Bregman, his 7th of the season. Derek Fisher capped off the scoring with an inside the park HR in the bottom of the 8th, his 5th HR of the season. Cotton and McCurry provided scoreless innings in relief to seal the win.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (11-18) lost 12-1 (BOX SCORE)

Lancaster fell behind early and wasn’t able to every build a comeback. Starter Armenteros went 5 IP giving up 4 ER. Deetz in relief gave up 3 ER in 1.2 IP and Dorris gave up 3 ER in 1.1 IP. Lancaster only managed five hits and the one run. The run came from Ferguson who drove in Tanielu. It’s been a struggle for Lancaster this season as they have had trouble finding any power.
