This will be your weekly look at the hottest prospects in the system, highlighting the top performers at the plate and on the mound. Below is the hotlist for Week Twenty-Four.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Lucas Spence – Spence was putting together a nice run before his call-up to Houston. After going back to Sugar Land it took him a while to get going but he performed well last week hitting .368 with a double, triple and 3 home runs over five games.
Pascanel Ferreras – Another week and another hotlist for Ferreras who continues to hit. Last week he batted .320 with 2 doubles, 4 runs batted in and a stolen base. He’s hitting .320 with 45 runs batted in over 66 games in Triple-A.
Kam Durnin – Durnin only played in three games for the Woodpeckers last week but was great. The infielder hit .583 with a double, a home run and 5 runs batted in across three playoff games for the Woodpeckers.
Jack Moss – Moss got a late season promotion to Double-A and had a solid week as he batted .286 with 3 doubles and 6 runs batted in. He finished the season hitting .339 over 78 games since joining the Astros system.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Jagger Beck – Beck has been a breakout performer this season and got the start in one of the playoff games last week. The 19-year-old was great allowing one run over 4.2 innings while striking out 5 batters. Great season for him.
Ryan Verdugo – Verdugo has shown some big flashes this year. Last week he relieved Beck and tossed 4.1 scoreless innings allowing one hit while striking out 6 batters. Dominant pitching for the Woodpeckers.
Charlie Weber – Weber was signed as an undrafted free agent but has been great. Last week the right-hander pitched in two games for the Woodpeckers and allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings while striking out 9 batters.
Jackson Nezuh – Nezuh has quietly put up a strong season. Last week the right-hander appeared in two games tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. This season he has 119 strikeouts over 99.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A.
