Report: Houston Astros to Sign Cuban Catcher Andy Gonzalez

The Houston Astros are reported to be signing catcher Andy Gonzalez, according to a report from Francys Romero. Gonzalez is an 17-year-old catcher from Cuba.

Andy Gonzalez is the brother of pitcher Alex Gonzalez, also signed by the Astros back in 2024. Information is limited on Gonzalez at this point but both Andy and Alex will be in the Dominican Summer League in 2026 and should make for an interesting watch as a brother to brother battery.

Gonzalez will join an international class that already saw the Astros sign some big name prospects.
