Astros Minor League Recap: April 12th

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books. See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (10-5) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Alexander got the start for Sugar Land and turned in another good outing allowing 1 run over 6 innings of work. The Sugar Land offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Whitcomb solo home run. The bullpen was solid again tossing 3 scoreless innings and in the bottom of the 9th, Biggio walked it off with a sac fly as the Hooks won 2-1.

Note: The Sugar Land bullpen has a 2.23 ERA.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-5) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Dombroski started for the Hooks and went 3.1 innings allowing one unearned run. The bullpen was solid tossing 3.2 scoreless innings as they kept the game close. The offense struggled though collecting just two hits as they were shutout in the 1-0 loss.

Note: Dombroski has a 0.00 ERA this season.

 


A+: Asheville Tourists (3-6) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

DeVos got the start for Asheville and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings while striking out 5. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Batista RBI single. In the 4th, Batista added another RBI single to tie it. Ogando relieved DeVos and went 3 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense was unable to mount a comeback though as the Hooks fell 4-2.

Note: Holy has 5 stolen bases this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (2-7) won 10-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning thanks to a Flores 3 run home run. Smith started for the Woodpeckers and went 4 innings allowing 5 runs, 4 earned. The offense battled back getting a run in the 5th on a Monistere RBI triple and then 2 runs in the 6th on a Neyens bases loaded walk and a run scoring on a balk. Aguilar relieved Smith and allowed 1 run over 4 innings as the RiverDogs tied it. In the 8th, the offense rallied for 4 runs on an Ochoa 2 run single, Monistere sac fly and Huezo RBI double.

Note: Wakefield has a .899 OPS this season.
