Astros Minor League Recap: September 4th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (67-65) won 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Palma RBI single. Ivey got the start and went 3.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got another run in the 4th inning on a Short sac fly. Kouba allowed a run in the top of the 5th as OKC took the lead. In the bottom of the inning, Cole added an RBI single to tie it. The rest of the pen was great keeping OKC scoreless. In the bottom of the 9th, Cole connected on a walk-off grand slam as Sugar Land won 7-3.

Note: Cole has a 1.332 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (44-83) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings. Martinez put the Hooks on the board in the 4th inning on a solo HR. The Missions got a run in the 8th to make it 3-1. In the 9th, the Hooks picked up a run on a Bush groundout but the comeback fell short as the Hooks lost 3-2.

Note: Baez is hitting .373 over his last 15 games.


A+: Asheville Tourists (51-74) lost 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

DeVos started for Asheville and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs with 4 strikeouts. The offense got a run in the 4th inning on a Gomez RBI groundout. The Asheville pen struggled allowing another 6 runs as the Hot Rods extended their lead. Asheville got 3 runs in the 9th on a Gomez 2 runs double and Trujillo walk but that was it as they fell 9-4.

Note: Janek has a .776 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (68-61) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs on an error. Verdugo got the start and allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings. He was relieved by Landeta who allowed 6 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense would struggled the rest of the way though as the Woodpeckers fell 7-2.

Note: Walker is hitting .349 over his last 13 games.
