Astros Minor League Recap: September 14th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (71-72) won 10-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning on a Melton 2 run HR. In the second inning, Matthews connected on a 3 run HR. The offense added another run in the third on a Singleton RBI single. Matthews added another homer in the 4th, this time a 2 run HR. Fleury got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs, both of which came in the first inning. Diaz would add a solo HR in the 7th to extend the lead. Diaz added another solo HR in the 9th inning. The Sugar Land bullpen was great tossing 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the 10-2 win.

Note: Melton has a .920 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-88) won 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Sacco RBI single. In the third inning they got 3 more runs on a Guillemette RBI single and a 2 run double by Bush. Hicks got the start but struggled allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, over 3.2 innings. In the 4th, Baez added a 2 run single as the Hooks took the lead. The offense got some insurance in the 8th inning on a Perez sac fly and Martinez RBI single. The bullpen pitched well tossing 5.1 scoreless innings as they closed out the 8-5 win.

Note: Guilfoil has a 3.88 ERA this season.
