This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Seventeen.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Zach Cole – Cole has been on this list a bunch this season. The 10th rounder from 2022 has put together a strong season and was really hot over the last week. In five games for the Hooks, Cole hit .520 with 3 doubles, a triple, a home run and 6 runs batted in. This year he had a .868 OPS in 77 games.

Luis Baez – Baez came into the season as one of the Astros top prospects, but has really struggled in 2025. He finally had a strong week going 9-for-13 (.692 BA!) with 3 doubles and 4 runs batted in. While limited games, he is hitting .444 in August and hopefully can finish the season strong.

Ethan Frey – Frey was the Astros third round pick this season, and a pick they had to go overslot on. The 6’6″ outfielder had a nice week hitting .316 with 3 doubles, 5 runs batted in, 3 stolen bases and an impressive 7 walks to 3 strikeouts. He’s hitting .308 with more walks than strikeouts in his first 12 professional games.

Will Bush – Bush has had a big year so far this season. After posting a .812 OPS in High-A, he was promoted to Double-A where his OPS is even higher. This week Bush hit .333 with 2 doubles, a homer and 4 walks to 2 strikeouts. Overall this year Bush has connected on 14 home runs and has a .822 OPS.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Luis Aguilar – Aguilar had a nice season in the Florida Complex League earning him a promotion to Fayetteville. In his first outing in Single-A, the right-hander tossed 5 no-hit innings with 8 strikeouts. Overall this season he has a 1.81 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 49.2 innings.

Andrew Taylor – After dealing with some injuries following the draft, Taylor has been healthy this year and experiencing a nice season. The right-hander made one start for Asheville this week and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Overall he has a 3.42 ERA in 55.1 innings.

Parker Smith – Smith was the Astros 4th round pick in 2024. After some injuries early, he’s settled in at Fayetteville. This week he made one start and went 5.1 innings allowing just 1 run. Overall this season, the right-hander 3.15 ERA in 40 innings in Single-A.

Yeriel Santos – Santos had a nice 2024 season but this year has been a struggle for him. He did put together a nice start this week as he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. While his ERA is quite high, he has racked up 73 strikeouts in 81.1 innings overall.
