Astros Minor League Recap: August 10th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (53-58) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

The offense got on the board early scoring 2 runs in the 2nd inning on Price and Diaz RBI doubles. Blubaugh got the start and was great tossing 6 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. Fleury relieved Blubaugh but allowed a 3 run HR in the 8th as the River Cats took the lead. In the 9th, the offense tied it up on a Price RBI double. Unfortunately Scott allowed a run in the 9th as the River Cats walked it off.

Note: Price has a .754 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (37-70) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Hicks got the start for the Hooks and allowed 1 run over 2.2 innings. The pen allowed a couple runs as the Drillers extended their lead to 3-0. The Hooks offense collected 4 hits and 4 walks over 9 innings but were unable to score as they were shutout in the series finale.

Note: Spence is hitting .333 in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (44-62) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Santos started for Asheville and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 4 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 6th inning on a Nunez RBI single and Gomez RBI double. The offense rallied for 3 runs in the 7th on a Villarroel 2 run single and Whitaker RBI single. David and Almonte had scoreless outings in relief as Asheville won 5-2.

Note: Gomez is hitting .321 over his last 14 games.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (57-49) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Ogando got the start for the Woodpeckers and pitched well striking out 9 over 5 no-hit innings. The offense got on the board scoring a run in the 3rd on a Trimble sac fly. March pitched in relief and kept the no-hitter going until the 8th when he allowed a single. He was really good though tossing 3 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. Smith allowed two runners on in the 9th but held on for the 1-0 win.

Note: Ogando has 97 K in 82 innings this season.
