Houston Astros 2025 Mid-Season Minor League All-Star Team

Check out the top performers at each position so far during the 2025 season. I will be choosing Astros prospects who played the majority of their games at the given position. See the results below!

CATCHER

Walker Janek – Janek is putting together a strong year in his first full season. The 22-year-old hit .267 with 15 doubles and 6 homers in the first half. Even more important, he three out 35% of base stealers, a really strong number for a catcher.

2025 Stats: 55 G, .267 BA/.346 OBP/.443 SLG, 15 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR, 21 RBI, 21 SB, 115 wRC+


FIRST BASE

Will Bush – Bush was a young draftee from JuCo last year but is having a good season for Asheville so far. While playing catcher and first base, the 21-year-old has a 128 wRC+ while connecting on 20 extra base hits over 64 games in High-A.

2025 Stats: 64 G, .240 BA/.378 OBP/.450 SLG, 9 2B, 11 HR, 31 RBI, 7 SB, 128 wRC+


SECOND BASE

Brice Matthews – Matthews got off to a slow start this year but really turned things on. Prior to his MLB call-up, Matthews was hitting .283 with 10 home runs and 25 stolen bases over 73 games in Triple-A, showing off the power/speed combination.

2025 Stats: 73 G, .283 BA/.400 OBP/.476 SLG, 16 2B, 5 3B, 10 HR, 39 RBI, 25 SB, 131 wRC+


THIRD BASE

Jesus Bastidas – Like Matthews, Bastidas got off to a slow start but also turned things around in a big way. Overall, he is hitting .257 with 25 doubles, 12 home runs and 57 runs batted in over 81 games. Good for a 111 wRC+.

2024 Stats: 81 G, .257 BA/.347 OBP/.469 SLG, 25 2B, 2 3B, 12 HR, 57 RBI, 8 SB, 111 wRC+


SHORTSTOP

Caden Powell – Powell was a 5th round pick in 2024, and got off to a nice start this year before an injury. In the 41 games before the IL stint, Powell hit .264 with 8 doubles, 7 home runs, 10 stolen bases and a .773 OPS, which came out to a 126 wRC+.

2025 Stats: 41 G, .264 BA/.331 OBP/.442 SLG, 8 2B, 7 HR, 23 RBI, 10 SB, 126 wRC+


OUTFIELD

Joseph Sullivan – Sullivan came into the season with some helium and he has performer to that level of expectation. In 75 games, he has a .872 OPS with 15 home runs and 34 stolen bases. He has shown great power, speed, patience so far this season.

2025 Stats: 75 G, .233 BA/.411 OBP/.462 SLG, 11 2B, 2 3B, 15 HR, 35 RBI, 34 SB, 143 wRC+

Lucas Spence – Spence was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Astros and he has been a solid find this season. In 73 games between Single-A and High-A, Spence is hitting .259 with 20 doubles, 5 home runs, 20 stolen bases and a .790 OPS.

2025 Stats: 73 G, .259 BA/.376 OBP/.414 SLG, 20 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 32 RBI, 20 SB, 124 wRC+

Zach Cole – Cole got off to a slow start with some injuries but really heated up prior to the All-Star break. In 54 games this season, Cole has connected on 13 home runs, stolen 13 bases and has a .824 OPS, good for a 132 wRC+.

2025 Stats: 54 G, .232 BA/.329 OBP/.495 SLG, 10 2B, 3B, 13 HR, 32 RBI, 13 SB, 132 wRC+


DESIGNATED HITTER

Shay Whitcomb – Whitcomb has been called up the Astros a few times this season but has continued to mash down in the minor leagues. In 63 games, he hit .273 with 19 home runs and a .914 OPS. He’s posted a 128 wRC+ in Triple-A.

2025 Stats: 63 G, .273 BA/.355 OBP/.559 SLG, 13 2B, 19 HR, 43 RBI, 7 SB, 128 wRC+


PITCHERS

Bryce Mayer – Mayer, a 16th round pick in last year’s draft, has been the best pitcher from the draft class. The right-hander has made his way up to Double-A and racked up 88 strikeouts in 68 innings while posting a 3.44 ERA.

2025 Stats: 16 G, 3.44 ERA, 68.0 IP, 53 H, 26 ER, 19 BB, 88 K, .210 BAA

Miguel Ullola – Ullola started the season really well but then ran into a little trouble with walks. Overall his numbers are still really solid posting a 3.80 ERA in 64 innings while striking out 78 batters. He’s held opponents to a .214 batting average.

2025 Stats: 16 G, 3.46 ERA, 75.1 IP, 70 H, 29 ER, 31 BB, 72 K, 8.6 K/9

Anderson Brito – Brito had all sorts of helium heading into the year and he really performed well so far this season. In a hitter friendly environment, Brito posted a 3.28 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 49.1 innings.

2025 Stats: 12 G, 3.28 ERA, 49.1 IP, 36 H, 18 ER, 28 BB, 65 K, .202 BAA

Luis Rodriguez – Rodriguez was acquired by the Astros in the trade that sent Julks to Chicago. He has been great this year posting a 2.36 ERA over 68.2 innings, allowing just 47 hits, good for a .195 batting average against.

2025 Stats: 16 G, 2.36 ERA, 68.2 IP, 47 H, 18 ER, 34 BB, 58 K, .195 BAA

Alimber Santa – Santa broke onto the scene a couple years ago but has finally found his groove this season. Pitching fully in relief, the right-hander has a 1.21 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 52 innings, allowing just 34 hits.

2025 Stats: 26 G, 1.21 ERA, 52.0 IP, 34 H, 7 ER, 20 BB, 54 K, .186 BAA
