Just like the stock market, prospects’ stock will go up and down throughout the season. Below are a few players hitter who have seen their stock rise. Here is the Astros Prospect Stock Report 2025: Volume 2.

Hitter – Walker Janek

Janek, the Astros first round pick in 2024, got off to a slow start this year missing some time in April. He has started to turn things around over the last month and a half. Over his last 27 games, Janek is hitting .307 with 9 doubles, 4 home runs and 11 runs batted in with a .910 OPS. He has also thrown out an impressive 35% of base stealers and has his season average up to .273 in 41 games.

2025 Stats: 41 G, .273 BA/.352 OBP/.435 SLG, 12 2B, 3B, 4 HR, 18 RBI, 14 SB

Hitter – Hector Salas

Salas was signed by the Astros as an international free agent in the summer of 2024. Salas had some strong numbers in the DSL before coming stateside this year. In the FCL, Salas hit .284 with an impressive .454 OBP in 22 games. This earned him a promotion to Fayetteville and while the games are limited, Salas is hitting .286 with .474 OBP in four games. Every step of the way, he has shown great plate discipline and on-base skills.

2025 Stats: 26 G, .284 BA/.457 OBP/.398 SLG, 5 2B, 3B, HR, 12 RBI, 4 SB

Pitcher – Anderson Brito

Brito was a true breakout prospect last year flying up the ranks from the Dominican Summer League to Fayetteville in one season. His performance had him up high on the rankings, but coming into his first full season and starting in Asheville could be tough. The 20-year-old has handled the bump well striking out 65 over 49.1 innings with a 3.28 ERA. This includes a 2.56 ERA over his last 7 outings with 44 K in 31.2 innings.

2025 Stats: 12 G, 3.28 ERA, 49.1 IP, 36 H, 18 ER, 28 BB, 65 K, 11.9 K/9

Pitcher – Brett Gillis

Gillis was a 9th round pick by the Astros in 2022. The right-hander dealt with some injuries, missing the entire 2024 season. He is back healthy now and pitching well. He has a 1.98 ERA over his last six games with 30 K in 27.1 innings. This is also coming in a hitter friendly environment in Asheville. Overall, Gillis has a 2.70 ERA in 46.2 innings this season.

2025 Stats: 15 G, 1.15 ERA, 31.1 IP, 22 H, 4 ER, 12 BB, 32 K, 9.2 K/9
