Astros Minor League Recap: June 1st

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (32-23) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in first inning scoring 2 runs on a Price RBI double and Bastidas RBI groundout. Walter started for Sugar Land and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 6 innings with 8 strikeouts. The Isotopes got a run in the 8th to take the lead and the offense was unable to response as Sugar Land fell 3-2.

Note: Walter has a 2.08 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (17-32) lost 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Pecko made his season debut in Double-A and went 2 innings allowing 2 runs. The pen struggled as they allowed 5 runs. The offense was quiet all night collecting just 2 hits as they were shutout in the 7-0 loss.

Note: Brockhouse has a 3.38 ERA this season.

  • Tyler Guilfoil, RHP: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
  • Wilmy Sanchez, RHP: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

A+: Asheville Tourists (22-29) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Santos started for Asheville and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs. The pen tossed 3 scoreless innings but the offense struggled collecting just 2 hits as they were shutout 3-0.

Note: Janek is hitting .280 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (26-24) won 12-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs on a Valencia RBI single, a run on a wild pitch and a run on an error. David started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings. The offense got a run in the 4th on a Brutcher RBI single and 2 runs in the 5th on a wild pitch and Luciano RBI single. The offense added 3 runs in the 6th on a Hernandez 2 run double and Hernandez sac fly. In the 7th, Brutcher added a 3 run HR. Rodriguez allowed 5 runs in relief but the Woodpeckers held on for the 12-6 win.

Note: Almonte has a 2.78 ERA this season.
