Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Five

Max Holy | Credit: Joe Dwyer

This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Three.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Max Holy – Holy was signed as an undrafted free agent following the draft last year and he has been really good for the Woodpeckers this season and on this list again. In five games, Holy hit .357 with 2 doubles, a home run and 7 runs batted in. Overall he is hitting .353 in 17 games this season.

Cristian Gonzalez – Gonzalez has had a long road back after battling some injuries but he is finally healthy and put together a strong week. In 4 games for Asheville, the 23-year-old hit .400 with a double and 4 runs batted in.

Brice Matthews – Matthews saw an aggressive promotion to start the season but he seems to be starting to acclimate to Triple-A. In five games this week, Matthews hit .300 with a double, triple, home run, 3 runs batted in and 4 stolen bases. He has 16 stolen bases this year, good for 2nd in the PCL.

Jesus Bastidas – Bastidas was a sneaky pickup by the Astros and he had a great year in 2024. This year he started slow, but he turned things on this last week. The 26-year-old hit .364 with a homer and 8 runs batted in over 6 games. He also had 2 walks to just 1 strikeout.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Miguel Ullola – After having great outing the week before, Ullola turned in an even better outing this week. In his one start for Sugar Land, Ullola struck out 10 over 5 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit. He has 26 K in 20 innings this season and has tossed 10 scoreless over his last 2 starts.

Raimy Rodriguez – Rodriguez is one of the youngest pitchers in full season (19-years-old) and had a huge week. He pitched in two games and totaled 9 innings allowing 1 unearned run while racking up 17 strikeouts. Overall this season, Rodriguez has 41 K in just 27.2 innings.

Juan Bello – Bello was acquired in the deal that sent Pressly to Chicago this off-season. While he got off to a rough start, he had a nice outing this week going 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. He has 23 K in 23 innings this season for Asheville.

Luis Rodriguez – Rodriguez, who was acquired in the deal that sent Julks to Chicago, ends up on this list again. This week he made one appearance and struck out 9 over 5 innings allowing 1 run. The 21-year-old has a 1.33 ERA this season striking out 31 batters in 27 innings for Fayetteville.
