Astros Minor League Recap: May 15th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (24-18) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Walter started for Sugar Land and pitched well tossing 4 scoreless innings. The bullpen was great as Kouba, Murray and Hernandez all tossed 2 scoreless innings each. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th, Sacco walked it off with an RBI single as Sugar Land won 1-0.

Note: Whitcomb leads the PCL with 13 home runs this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (11-25) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Nezuh started for the Hooks and was solid going 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 3. The Hooks got on the board in the 5th on a Ferreras RBI single. They got 2 more in the 6th on a Wrobleski 2 run HR. Wrobleski added an RBI single in the 8th inning. Bido and Knorr closed it out with scoreless outings as the Hooks won 4-2.

Note: Barber is hitting .268 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (16-20) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the third inning scoring 2 runs on Janek and Gonzalez solo homers. They got another in the 4th on a Bush solo HR. Santos got the start and was solid tossing 4 scoreless innings. In the 5th, Sullivan connected on a solo HR. The pen struggled as Bowling Green tied it up, but Asheville retook the lead in the 8th scoring a run on an error. The Hot Rods scored a run in the 8th to tie it up. Asheville rallied in the 9th scoring 4 runs on a Janek RBI double, Gonzalez sac fly, Spence RBI double and Vogel RBI double. Langford allowed a run in the 9th but held on for the win.

Note: Sullivan has a .938 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (17-19) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

David got the start but struggled allowing 3 runs over 1.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Carrillo RBI single and Valencia RBI single. Almonte allowed 1 run in relief and Brown tossed a scoreless outing but the offense was unable to score again as they fell 4-2.

Note: Brutcher is hitting .320 this season.
