Astros Minor League Recap: April 6th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (3-6) lost 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Blubaught got the start for Sugar Land but struggled a bit allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, over 3 innings of work. The Kouba and Hernandez were solid in relief but Castro allowed a couple of runs as the Bulls extended their lead. The offense was quiet all day as they were shutout 6-0 in the loss.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-2) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Fleury started for the Hooks and pitched really well tossing 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. He was relieved by Dombroski who allowed a run over 2 innings. The offense was quiet though picking up just 4 singles as they were shutout in the 2-0 loss.


A+: Asheville Tourists (1-2) won 12-10 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 2nd inning getting solo HRs from Fisher and Bush. In the third, they got 2 more runs on solo homers from Gonzalez and Guillemette. Urias got the start but struggled allowing 7 runs, 5 earned, over 3.1 innings. The offense would get 2 back in the 4th on a Whitaker RBI single and Gonzalez RBI double. Swiney allowed a few runs in relief as Asheville found themselves behind. They got a run back in the 7th on a Nunez solo HR and then rallied for 5 runs in the 8th on an Austin solo HR, a run on an error, a Gonzalez RBI single and a Nunez 2 run single. Langford and Leach closed it out with 2 scoreless innings each as Asheville won 12-10.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (1-2) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning scoring 2 runs on a Valencia 2 run double. Rodriguez got the start and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. In the 4th, the Woodpeckers got 3 more runs on a Cauro 2 run HR and Hernandez solo HR. Cruz allowed 2 runs in relief and then in the 9th, the Hillcats scored 2 runs off Frias to take the lead. The offense was unable to respond as the Woodpeckers fell 6-5.
