Astros Minor League Recap: April 4th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (3-4) lost 15-1 (BOX SCORE)

Brown got the start but struggled allowing 5 runs over 4.2 innings. He was relieved by Tamarez who allowed 6 runs while retiring just 2 batters. The bullpen allowed a few more as Durham opened up a 15-0 lead. The offense got a run back in the 8th on a Bastidas sac fly but that was it as they lost 15-1.

Note: Matthews has 5 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-0) won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Swanson started for the Hooks and went 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs. The offense got things going in the 3rd scoring 3 runs on a Barber RBI double and Ferreras RBI single. They got another in the 4th on a Wrobleski solo HR. The Hooks took the lead in the 6th on a Wrobleski sac fly and a Cerny solo HR. Palma added on another run in the 7th on an RBI double. Ferreras added another run in the 8th on an RBI single. Sanchez closed it out striking out 3 over the final 1.2 innings as the Hooks won 7-5.


A+: Asheville Tourists (0-1) lost 12-3 (BOX SCORE)

Bello got the start for Asheville but ran into some trouble as he walked 6 and allowed 6 runs over 2 innings. Asheville got on the board in the 2nd on a Jaworsky RBI groundout. Asheville got 2 more back in the 5th scoring 2 runs on an error. Guedez struggled in relief allowing 5 runs as the Grasshoppers extended their lead and Asheville fell 12-3.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (1-0) won 7-0 (BOX SCORE)

Ogando started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well tossing 3.1 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning scoring a run on a wild pitch. In the 2nd inning they got another run on a Holy RBI triple. Palmer relieved Ogando and struck out 6 over 3 scoreless innings. The offense got another run in the 7th on a Villarroel sac fly. They added 4 more insurance runs in the 8th on a Valencia RBI single, Luciano hit by pitch and 2 runs scoring on wild pitches. The pen closed it out as the Woodpeckers won 7-0.
