Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Twenty-Two

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Twenty. Here is last week’s hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Trey Cabbage – Cabbage was phenomenal this week for Sugar Land. In five games, he hit .455 with a double, a triple 2 home runs, 6 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He has a .881 OPS in 55 games this season for Sugar Land.

Pedro Leon – Leon has been steady since rejoining Sugar Land. This week, the 26-year-old hit .278 with a home run, 4 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He has 23 HR, 27 SB and a .902 OPS in Sugar Land this season.

Cooper Hummel – Hummel has had a nice year in Triple-A and was great this week. He played in 6 games this week hitting .500 with 4 doubles, a triple, and 4 runs batted in. Overall, he has a .901 OPS in 90 games for Sugar Land.

Anthony Sherwin – Sherwin put together a nice week for the Tourists over the last few games. In five games for Asheville, the 22-year-old hit .308 with two doubles, a home run and 2 runs batted in. He has a .710 OPS in 66 games in High-A this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

A.J. Blubaugh – Blubaugh, one of the Astros top pitching prospects, had another strong week. In his one start, the right-hander allowed 1 run over 6 innings while striking out 9. He has a 3.58 ERA with 123 K in 120.2 innings overall this season.

Colton Gordon – Gordon has seen some up and downs this year, but this week he was dominant. The left-hander made one start and tossed 6 scoreless innings with 0 walks and 7 strikeouts. He has a 4.26 ERA with 109 K in 105.2 innings in Triple-A this year.

Ryan Gusto – Gusto made two starts this week. In the first he allowed 1 run over 7 innings. In the second start, he allowed 1 run over 5 innings of work. Overall this year, the right-hander has a 3.84 ERA including a 2.07 ERA over his last 16 outings.

James Hicks – Hicks pitched in two games this week for the Hooks. He allowed 1 run over 3 innings in the first, and tossed 4 scoreless with 6 strikeouts in the second. He had 10 K over 7 innings and is up to 115 strikeouts in 106 innings this season.

Luis Rodriguez – Rodriguez was acquired in the deal that sent Julks to the White Sox. He has been great this year posting a 2.86 ERA in Single-A. This week, he made one start and tossed a complete game shutout over 7 innings while striking out 5.
