Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Austin Deming – Deming put together a nice week to finish off what was a really good year for him. In 6 games this week, he hit .389 with 2 doubles, a home run, 2 runs batted in and 2 stolen bases. He finished the season with 19 HR, 63 RBI and a .812 OPS in 113 games.
Narbe Cruz – Cruz received a late promotion to Double-A and had a nice first week. In 5 games for the Hooks, the 23-year-old hit .353 with a double and 4 runs batted in. Overall this season, Cruz hit .275 with 8 home runs and 40 runs batted in over 82 games between High-A and Double-A.
Colin Barber – Barber has dealt with his fair share of injuries but when healthy, he has hit well. This week for the Hooks he hit .313 with a double, a home run and 3 runs batted in. He finished the season well hitting .281 during the month of September.
Pedro Leon – Leon had a solid week back down in the minors. He only played in four games but collected 5 hits, including a home run, while hitting .297. Overall this year he is hitting .301 with 24 home runs and 28 stolen bases in 114 games for Sugar Land.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Miguel Ullola – Ullola showed a lot of potential this week, highlighted by starts like he has this week. In his one start he allowed 1 run over 5 innings and struck out 8. He set the Hooks franchise record for strikeouts in a season with 166 strikeouts in 127.2 innings earning a promotion to Triple-A.
Colton Gordon – Gordon has been really good as of late, and this week was no different. The left-hander started two games allowing 1 run over 6 innings in the first start, and 1 run over 5 innings in the second start. He has. 2.47 ERA over his last nine starts for Sugar Land.
Joey Mancini – Mancini continued to roll this week. He made two appearances and went 5 innings allowing 1 run in the first and 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs in the second. He racked up 11 strikeouts in those 9 innings. He posted a 1.88 ERA with 68 K in 76.2 innings in Double-A.
Alejandro Torres – Torres was solid in his two appearances this last week tossing 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts for the Hooks. Over his last 15 outings he has a 0.00 ERA with 5 BB/24 K in 17.1 innings. He will finish the season with a 2.91 ERA with 61 K in 52.2. innings.
